|Festival 2013: BIBER & The Glories of Salzburg|
Biber's 53-part polychoral for 9 different groups of instruments is probably the largest-scaled surviving work from the Baroque period. First performed in Salzburg's stunning cathedral, "choirs" of trumpets, trombones, strings, cornettos, viols, recorders, oboes, continuo instruments, and two eight-part vocal ensembles, this rare performance will feature the combined forces of the American Bach Soloists and Academy members. Other large works by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber, one of the most celebrated and demanding composers of the 17th Century, will be performed.
